It should not look like platted scales which take on an armor-like apperance.

Long feathers  and plumages that look akin to certain variant of fowls. 

Feathers and plumage that is similar to a dinosaur. Feathers can be found anywhere from the head crest, tail, elbow, haunches, rump, and ankle areas.

Long fur that looks like ribbons and tassles across their body.

Short tufts of fur can be found throughout an Axehead. They seem to thrive more in mountainous areas where the tempreature can take a sudden dip.

Barely any hair can be seen on an Axehead, it's smooth to the touch. A species standard.

Skin which have taken a more durable outlook similar to rhinocerouses, or pangolins as an example.

Scales that have rigid and protruding shapes.

Short fur can be seen on the Smokwyrm.

Tufted fur can be seen on a smokwyrm. 

Long fur that looks ribbon like.

Bigger feathers can be seen across the body or partially.
